Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the ChatPro browser extension and any related websites (collectively, the "Service"), provided by ChatPro ("we," "us," or "our").

By installing or using ChatPro, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Service.

1. Description Of The Service

ChatPro is a browser extension that adds a "Fork" feature to the user interfaces of certain third-party AI chat services, currently Anthropic's Claude (claude.ai), OpenAI's ChatGPT (chatgpt.com), and Google's Gemini (gemini.google.com). The Fork feature lets you branch a follow-up conversation off a specific message without modifying the original thread. Forked conversations are created on your account with the relevant AI provider, using your existing session in that provider's web interface.

ChatPro is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or any other AI provider. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.

2. License

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use ChatPro for your own personal or internal business purposes. You may not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble ChatPro, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law.
  • Distribute, sublicense, sell, rent, lease, or otherwise transfer ChatPro to any third party, except through the official extension store distribution channel.
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices.
  • Use ChatPro to violate the terms of service of any third-party service it interacts with.

This license terminates automatically if you violate these Terms.

3. Eligibility And Account Requirements

To use ChatPro, you must:

  • Be at least 13 years old, or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction.
  • Have a valid account in good standing with the AI provider whose service you are using through ChatPro.
  • Comply with the terms of service of each AI provider you use ChatPro with.

ChatPro does not provide AI capabilities itself. All AI responses come from the third-party AI provider you are interacting with. You are responsible for maintaining and complying with your own relationship with that provider.

4. Third-Party Services

ChatPro is a client-side tool that interacts with third-party AI services that we do not control. Specifically:

Your use of those services through ChatPro is subject to their respective terms. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of ChatPro complies with each provider's terms. Some providers may prohibit, restrict, or limit the use of third-party tools, browser extensions, automation, or programmatic interaction with their services. We make no representation that ChatPro's interaction methods are permitted under those providers' terms, and we disclaim any liability arising from such use.

If a provider modifies their service, terms, interface, or technical surface in a way that affects ChatPro, ChatPro's functionality with that provider may be reduced, suspended, or removed without notice.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use ChatPro to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation.
  • Infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any person.
  • Send unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, obscene, or otherwise objectionable content to any AI provider.
  • Generate or distribute malware, spam, or other harmful content.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system, account, or data.
  • Circumvent rate limits, abuse-prevention measures, or other technical or contractual restrictions imposed by any AI provider beyond the normal operation of ChatPro itself.
  • Use ChatPro in connection with any high-risk activity where failure could lead to death, personal injury, or severe environmental damage.

We may, in our sole discretion, modify or discontinue any feature of ChatPro at any time if we believe it is being used in violation of these Terms.

6. User Content

ChatPro does not store the content of your messages or AI responses. Any content you create, send, or receive through ChatPro flows between you and the AI provider. We do not claim ownership of any such content. Ownership, licensing, and use of that content are governed by the relevant AI provider's terms.

You represent and warrant that you have all rights necessary to submit any content you send through ChatPro.

7. Intellectual Property

ChatPro, including its source code, design, name, logo, and documentation, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws. Except for the license expressly granted in Section 2, no other rights are granted to you.

Where ChatPro's source code is published under an open-source license, your rights to that source code are governed by that license, not by these Terms.

8. Privacy

Your use of ChatPro is subject to the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

9. Disclaimers

ChatPro is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:

  • Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
  • Any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, accurate, reliable, or that defects will be corrected.
  • Any warranty regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or quality of any AI-generated output obtained through ChatPro. AI providers generate that output, not us, and AI output may be inaccurate, biased, incomplete, or otherwise unsuitable for any particular use.
  • Any warranty that ChatPro will continue to function with any specific third-party AI provider. Providers may at any time modify their services in ways that break or limit ChatPro's functionality.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. In those jurisdictions, the foregoing exclusions apply only to the extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation Of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall we, our affiliates, or our contributors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, use, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use ChatPro, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), statute, or any other legal theory, and whether or not we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

In any case, our aggregate liability under these Terms for any and all claims shall not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100), or, if greater, the amount you have paid us for the Service in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. ChatPro is currently provided free of charge, so this amount will typically be US$0.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for certain damages. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless us and our affiliates, officers, agents, and contributors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your use or misuse of ChatPro.
  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Your violation of any third party's rights, including any AI provider's terms of service.
  • Any content you submit through ChatPro.

12. Termination

You may stop using ChatPro at any time by uninstalling it from your browser. We may suspend, modify, or discontinue ChatPro, in whole or in part, at any time, with or without notice. Upon termination, Sections 6 through 14 of these Terms will continue to apply.

13. Changes To These Terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be noted in the extension's release notes and on the extension's website. Your continued use of ChatPro after such changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using ChatPro.

14. Governing Law And Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or ChatPro will be resolved exclusively in the courts located in the State of California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

If you are a consumer residing in a jurisdiction whose laws grant you mandatory protections that cannot be waived by contract, nothing in these Terms limits those protections.

15. Miscellaneous

  • Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding ChatPro and supersede any prior agreements.
  • Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms freely.
  • No agency. Nothing in these Terms creates any agency, partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship between you and us.
